my ipod won't work for a long period of time...the folder icon will just pop up when i press a button, then it makes a clicking sound and shuts off. after i get frustrated i start hitting it, and occasionaly it will go back to working. any ideas why this is happening??

Need to throw it off a 9 story building and then get a new one.

try updating the software.

first, make sure you have the most current version of itunes installed on your computer.

click on the help tab at the top, and then click on check for updates. if an update is required, perform the update.

once the installation is finished, plug in your ipod. when your ipod's properties appear on the screen, itunes will tell you if there is a newer version of the ipod software, and should ask you if you'd like to update.

You'll need to plug your iPod in and - reformat the iPod and re-install the software.If this doesn't work, then contact your local Apple store.They will only be too Happy to replace your iPod.

try reseting it. hit the play button and middle button alternatly until it turns on.
also dont disconnect your ipod from your computer until it says you can because you could permantly screw up the formating of your ipod
