Me and my friends are from ohio and are currently thinkin about takin a trip to Alaska before we venture to college. We are super excited but would also like to know what it's like there. Can anyone help us? It would be nice to know a local.

I used to live there and three of my kids still do. They live on the Kenai Peninsula which by the way is a great place to visit. The locals there are very friendly and helpful. Even if you don't know anyone you'll feel like you do.

Go durig the summer months. You have a lot more daylight and the temp is around 60 degrees in most areas. You can also still snowboard then. Try to go to Skagway. There are all kinds of tourists things there, including a brewery.

Southcentral Alaska is heaven on earth April thru October. Climbing, backpacking, sailing, kayaking, wildlife, even skiing if you go into the backcounrty (please know what you're doing first). Friendly people, but bad drivers.

Been here 30 years and done it all - still doing some of too!
