i can't tell if it's a guy or a woman but they're singing about how they swam and played and had fun, but they're leaving when summer ends. . .

i can't figure it out and ofcourse, now, i can't think of any lyrics either. if anyone has any ideas PLEASE!!! and if i think of anything i'll add it into additional details.

We'll Sing In The Sunshine
Recorded by Gale Garnett
We'll sing in the sunshine,
we'll laugh everyday.
We'll sing in the sunshine,
then I'll be on my way.
I will never love you.
The cost of love's too dear.
But though I'll never love you,
I'll stay with you one year.

And we can sing in the sunshine,
we'll laugh everyday.
We'll sing in the sunshine
then I'll be on my way.

I'll sing to you each morning,
I'll kiss you every night
but darlin don't cling to me.
I'll soon be out of sight.

But we can sing in the sunshine,
we'll laugh everyday.
We'll sing in the sunshine
then I'll be on my way.

My Daddy he once told me,
"Hey don't you love you any man.
Just take what they may give you
and give up what you can."

And you can sing in the sunshine,
you'll laugh everyday.
You'll sing in the sunshine
then be on your way.

And when our year has ended
and I have gone away.
You'll often speak about me
and this is what you'll say.

We sang in the sunshine,
you know we laughed everyday.
We sang in the sunshine
then she went away.

Glad to be of assisstance. You're Welcome.

is this it?

Summer
by Stephen Kellogg

What can you say when the summer arrives
Like a virgin who is not afraid?
When you’ve said your goodbyes and you’re empty inside
And there’s nothing left to be said
I’ve never really had my fun
So I know mostly about ideals
The hearts of young maidens, hearts of young men
That is what the summer steals

Cause In the Summer we believe
That all our dreams can be achieved
In love and lady Charity
In endless possibility
That there is a better way to be
When the Summer ends so do we

When the sad chill of autumn has scared you
With visions of being alone
Like a walk through a house you once lived in
In my busted heart baritone
And the dormancy leaves you renewed
And resolved for when Summer next comes
But we’re always changed and older
And it’s all about getting things done

cause in the heart we believe
that all our dreams can be achieved
In love and lady Charity
In endless possibility
That there is a better way to be
When the Summer ends so do we

In the Winter I always forget
How the nape of a neck just burns in the sun
Me at thirteen, the uncomfortable dreams
And the snowfall weighing a ton
There I am digging my car out
So I could just go, go, go
And the people I’ve not said my prayers for
I wonder if they know?

cause in the heart we believe
that all our dreams can be achieved
In love and lady Charity
In endless possibility
That there is a better way to be
When the Summer ends so do we

It wrecks me to think of the callous spring
Gradually pushing me out
Making me further from Summer
From my youth and the dreams and the doubt
From the place that she once lay
On the back of her parents lawn
We all live with our decisions
Tell me why couldn’t summer hold on?

cause in the heart we believe
that all our dreams can be achieved
In love and lady Charity
In endless possibility
That there is a better way to be
When the Summer ends so do we

I don't think it was this song but I am mentioning it just in case. I like this song by Terry Jacks called "Seasons in the Sun" and it has similar lyrics to what you were referring to. See below:

"Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we're nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time."

The Beatles

The sun is fading away
That's the end of the day
As the June light turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way

Just one kiss and I'll go
Don't hide the tears that don't show
As the June light turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way

To where the winds don't blow
And golden rivers flow
This way will I go

They were right, I was wrong
True love didn't last long
As the June light turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way, hey
To where the winds don't blow
And golden rivers flow
This way will I go

They were right, I was wrong
True love didn't last long
As the June light turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way, hey

I'll be on my way, oh, oh
I'll be on my way, oh, oh
I'll be on my way

Is it, Seasons in the Sun? It says, We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun, but the wine and the song like the seasons have all gone.

Or We'll have fun, fun, fun til my daddy takes the T-Bird away by the Beach Boys?
