it depends on what you mean by violence. Typically tv stations will not air show that is graphic (physically or verbally) before the family hour (7p central, 8p eastern). However, many would consider Jerry Springer to be graphic and violent.
I understand that many homes are dual income and there are a lot of latch-key kids. This does not give parents an excuse to not parent. And why can't a grown adult not watch something when they want to? Every show has a Rating that is shown in the top left corner as it comes on. TVs have Vchips where you can program your tv to not allow shows over a certain rating to be shown (ands it password protected). Many parents just dont take the time to do things like that. In short, I could argue wither side on this one.

I have a feeling that wouldn't do worth jack squat, since kids are capable of watching television towards the night time as well. In fact, that's when I would usually watch television when I was a kid.

Either way, I really feel the parents are the major influence, not the television, because the parents are capable of having control of what the children watch, and if the kids are influenced to do something because the TV told them to do it or whatever, then the parents need to do something about it, and if they can't, or don't want to, then they shouldn't even be having kids.

Why shouldn't they? So kids at home don't see them? Here's a hint, if you're a parent home with your kid in the daytime and you don't want him to watch violent TV, then how about monitor what your child is watching.
