I don't need anything really fancy...but here is a list of things I need to do on it.

--Needs to be compatible with Microsoft 2003 (I am an instructor for PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word and my college uses Microsoft 2003)
--I'm an avid photographer and need storage for the photos and a GREAT photo editing program.
--I would like to be able to burn cds and dvds
--Money manager program
--large screen

I won't be using it for gaming or anything crazy like that. However, speed is important (I have a 4-year-old and don't have a lot of time to wait for a computer to do stuff...lol).

Can you give me links to some affordable laptops? Thank you!

If you have a Best Buy near where you live, check it out...I have a Toshiba laptop from there which I am typing to you on this very moment...It has a 80 GB Hard Drive, CD/DVD burner, wireless connectivity, op system is XP...I use Microsoft Works with it, but it has a Word 2003 trial on it, which you can buy if you want...The processor is not great for high tech video games at 1.86 GHz, but it is fine for surfing the net...and as you indicated, with a young child, you probably won't have time for games anyway...I got it for $530...Beware of online only sites such as the one above...unless it is well-known such as Dell or Gateway...You never know when they might disappear on you...

I suggest you to go with HP/Compaq notebooks. Really they are worth. You can customize the notebook according to your requirements. Here is the link to customize and order them.
