Mahendre Singh Dhoni is a stroke player and the grounds in WI are small like in New Zealand. If he is able to make contact between bat and ball, then he will have a great time.
And as an Indian I do sincerely hope he shines along with all other Indian batsmen!

Why wouldnt he?
When he has got the support of such a good team (if they stay injury prone, and form is good)
Factors helping India -
The best indian team going for the World Cup after the 1983 Presidential Cup. India has found good openers in Ganguly and Uthappa, with Sehwag in there too. Yuvraj, Dravid, Dhoni and Tendulkar steady the middle order to form one of the best middle order batting. Lower middle order of Kumble, Harbhajan, Zaheer can hit a few runs too.
As on bowling - Zaheer and Sreesanth/Munaf Patel will be opening and are not as bad. Kumble, Harbhajan and Sachin - Sehwag can bowl many spin overs between them. That leaves one guy extra. He can be employed as a strike bowler - Irfan/Sreesanth or Dinesh Kaarthick as the 11th guy. Irfan can bat as well.
It is a very powerful batting line-up, and make take a beating on their bowling lineup.
Quality Fielders are in plenty - Yuvraj, Uthappa, Sachin, Kaarthick. Fielders like Munaf Patel will have to be hided on the field.
There are all winning chances for India. India will reach the semi-finals for sure

He needs shave his hair off, or get bald & should not wear helmet then he will really shine, because, as per the WI weather forecast it is going to be sunny during day time !!!
Seriously, ONLY Dhoni is going to shine apart from Shewag !

He played some interesting shots in the last efw matches.I agree that his late order will be a negative factor in his sucess but with his good strike rate and ability to keep the score moving will get india going. Will he shine? May be...

he is a very good player but he comes to bat too late that' why he can't make that high score, i think if they send him 3rd then he will shine in world cup, he always bats very good with good strike rate.
