Don't fret!
This is certainly NOT the interpretation that archaeologists or scientist place on the Mayan Theory!
December 21, 2012 to them was not meant to be the End of the World!
It has been literately interpreted by them to mean - "The End of Time". -
Referring to an "End of an Era" - like the beginning of the Age of Aquarius was!
Mayas calendar revolve every 52 years, - so then 12/12/12 comes along - it will just be the end of another 52 year old Mayan period and nothing of any great consequence will transpire or happen either before or after that date!
Life will go on as usual.
Lo Siento!

As far as the Biblical perspective goes, the earth isn't destroyed, it literally becomes hell, hence the expression "hell on earth", and for 1000 years, the unclean and evil, and whatever else you decide to call them, are purged of that which keeps them out of heaven.
Including satan.
This time though, will come when God so decides, and He alone knows when it will come. Because of this, every prediction you will ever hear, will be wrong.
Its a supremely common misconception that the apocalypse is the end of the world.
Its not.
The end of the world comes when God reveals himself through his prophets, and every man, woman and child dies.
Then, the Ressurection. When Goes raises back to life every man woman and child that has ever lived.
Then the Judgement. When God, speaking through his chosen Messiah, Jesus, will make judgement on the world, one person a a time. Its said this will last as long as 50,000 years untill everyone has been judged.
Then, the Apocalypse. Where those who are not redemed or taken to heaven, are left on earth in a blazing heat, and all in the world that can burn, burns.
As far as an atheistic attitude lies, the world ending, is either a prediction of WW3 or an asteroid/comet the size of the state of Texas hitting the Earth.
Recently, the doomsday clock was moved two minutes closer to the end of the countdown.
The Doomsday Clock is a hypothetical clock, and is more of a ratio of time passed and time til WW3, or Nuclear War.
Thats possibly what is meant by 2012.
An asteroid or comet could come at any time though, since we really dont have the resources to look at the whole sky.
Then theres a more gnostic or even pagan point of view, the the end of the world is not in fact any kind of life termination, but the end of the current age.
In this case, the Age of Pieces, which began with the birth of Jesus, and that the Next World, Life or Age is wthn be the Age of Aries I believe.
If you're a religious person, then, you needn't worry about your children, because, as Jesus stated so plainly, children are innocent.

Ask yourself this...how would someone know this information? What are the odds that someone has this information? If you're a Christian person, the scriptures say that no man knows the time of the Lord's return. I don't know what Muslims, Buddists, etc. believe, but it seems to me that unless a person has found a way to take out the whole world (highly unlikely) then this 12/21/12 date is hogwash. Quit worrying and enjoy life while you're here.

Even if there was a full scale nuclear war the world wouldnt end, just the human involvement in it perhaps!! Yes your kids could suffer and i think its about time people started thnking about the sort of world you are bringing your children into, before having them, instead of just thinking its your right to have kids!! But on this point people would have stopped having kids thousands of years ago!! The kids of today must just be taught to work on a peaceful future, for their kids sake!!

Well if you read up on where this theory comes form and the tack record.... it looks like it may be true. I don't think that if there is an end to the world that it's worth worrying about. It could happen anytime, and there is probaly nothing you can do about it so why worry worrying? If you are scared of death than you have got other problems to worry about. Death is the only certain thing in life how can you be scared of it? That is, unless you have done things in this life that you fear you may payfor in the next.....

Just another load of old rubbish I'm afraid. I can remember when at school in the 60's people were also rushing off to the top of a mountain saying the world was coming to an end - we are still here - just!

According to the Bible the world will end but there is no date given. The Jehovas witnesses have studied this for many years and so far I believe they have worked out the exact date at least three times. However we are still here. There will always be someone who likes to forecast doom and gloom. Please don't worry, no one knows when or even if it's going to happen. Enjoy your children now cos they grow up so darn quickly don't waste your time worrying.

have you ever asked what kind of end will it be. As you see every day the world is getting worse, crime, hunger, health, and government. The bible talks about these things coming to an end in Revelation 21:3-5. Also in Luke 17:26-27 talks about the like the days of Noah no one listened until the flood came and everyone got destroyed. The bible has talked about these days to come way before scientist have discovered, and thats why it is important to become closer to god and listen and learn about his teachings so that we can be prepared when that day comes.

Well if I am not mistaken that is the Inca Calendar or prediction, you know we all must die and wether we like it or not we all do actually die.
So hopefully it will be a quick and painless end with some kind of global instant inceneration were you dont get a chance to feel a thing.

It's not! This world will last exactly as long as God intended it to, and not a second less! (For none no the day nor the hour).
So relax, and enjoy every moment... quit the needless worry!
(It's just a distraction!)
This date you refer to is from the hieroglyphics found in the Egyptian and Mayan pyramids and no one can say for certain what they mean... pure conjecture to keep man away from the Truth!
