Well, I've never thought about it, and I don't know that there was one single incident that changed my life.

Still, I can defintely see how it's possible. Take Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I'm sure if an event is bad enough it'll have lasting repercussions.

Now, if you mean one event that alters ALL of our lives -- heck yea. 9/11. We don't fly the same way, we don't apply for jobs the same way, we don't even go to traffic court the same way.

That is a very true statement! One decision can alter the way we live our lives, also. I know this for a fact. The single event that changed my life significantly was a head on car crash that left me in the hospital for 8 months and they thought I was going to die. Well. I'm still here 10 yrs later, but still deal with chronic pain due to failed back surgeries and other things. My life significantly changed forever because of that one single event and that one decision to get in the car that night with my friend.

Change is a part of nature and every event we encounter changes us in some way or the other no matter how much we resist. When it comes to significant changes, the event mush have a large impact on the person's emotion and thinking style, otherwise it will not be sufficient to to cause that significant change. Usually significant changes come due to a negative affect, for example someones death can cause a person to change entirely. But once a while things such as child birth can also change a boy to a man. Therefore, no matter what the event is we all change a bit when we are exposed to it. CHANGE IS A PART OF NATURE!!!

Any event has the capacity to alter the way we live our lives, but only if we let it. How we react to a situation is the key. Many people learn valuable lessons from trauma, and that in itself changes how they live. Positive thinking is the best course to follow. Find the positive in everything, learn and grow. In short, yes, events can and do change how we live.

I love watching movies that protray that. How it happens if an incident was avoided - good or bad. Like 'It's a Wonderful Life' and James Belushi had one I have forgotten the title, but he has cops running after him and he runs into a bar and the bartender is the 'angel' that 'changes his life for the moment' and he ends wanting to go back the way it was. There's people you wouldn't meet unless this happened, you might not have been closer (love) to a person (s) if this had or hadn't happen, etc.

A large event whether it be good or bad can alter your life for a short while, but unless it is really traumatic, you will return to normal. Your emotions return to a state of normal in time.

I don't think anything alters your life. You cope with what may come because things happen in life. The only things that alters life is actual death.
