Keep exploring and find your own style...if you really want to become a designer/illustrator, then practice technique! Especially when it comes to architecture and the human body. Pick up a copy of the book Gray's Anatomy and practice sketching body parts. Go for a walk and sketch some trees, buildings, landscapes. Keep a sketch book. Take photographs. Build things. If I knew I'd be going to art school when I was 13, that's what I would have done!!! Also, don't be afraid to show your work to people, and make friends with people with similar artistic interests. It will make networking so much easier. Go check out galleries and museums whenever you can; read up on artists and movements, find something interesting that inspires you. just find something you are passionate about, and it will come out in your work!
Even if you don't turn out to be such a great illustrator, you can go more conceptual; if you decide not to become an artist, there are tons of other careers...like curating, writing, art history...just do what you can and don't let anyone discourage you!!! ;)

Art is my life and I will soon be attending art school! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't! If you love it then pursue it! If you want to improve I would say to take advantage of every opportunity you have to learn. Take classes, read books and definitely keep a sketch pad. Never underestimate your sketch pad...some of my best work has come from my sketches. Also, learn to take critiques well. Other peoples opinions can make a difference. And my last tip is to step outside of your comfort zone....if you only draw, try something new like pottery. You might find something you really like! Good Luck with everything! I'm sure that someday you will become a wonderful artist!

i know how you feel I've been there now I'm 18 and have teachers wanting to buy my art what ever you do don't stop, find something you like (a picture off the Internet or a vase of flowers...) and attempt to duplicate it keep trying over and over till it starts to look good then change a few things make it original unique, and for people study the human figure learn all the curves of the body and when you draw it always start wit bare body so you can see the curves on your paper so you know how their clothing should fall! OH and art classes in school !

i just answered a Q just like this...so im gonna give you the same advice. improving your artistic ability is all a matter of practice, and learning new techniques. look for books/online tutorials that can assist you in learning new things. thats basically what i did for a long time and i still do. draw alot..sometimes i even draw when i dont feel like it just so i can get more practice. another thing i do is study other artists' work, just to observe their technique & to see how they do things.
the link below has a crap load of really useful resources. use em.. :]

I'm 15 and have been seriously drawing since I was about 12. The big thing for me was drawing the things that I wasn't good at.
If you have trouble with hands and feet, draw tons of hands and feet. Also, don't restrict yourself to one style. Try allot of different styles and try creating your own. Copying other art can help you at first with learning to get proportions right, but don't be afraid to try your own ideas. If you don't care for the way one of your drawings is turning out, don't give up on it. Make sure to finish it! Always have a sketch pad with you for spur of the moment ideas!
The most important thing is to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! Hope this helps!
Check out some of my art!

take art classes. take a variety of different ones to see which one you like. maybe you'll like sketching, maybe you'll like computer arts, maybe something else. draw at least an hour a day. carry a sketchbook around. draw people, draw your friends, draw animals, draw objects. anything you can see.
