The North Atlantic Current flows from the equator northward past the Eastern US coast, Eastern Canadian Coast, and Greenland before turning back southward down the western European coast. The British Isles sit right in the middle of that current, which is still warm enough to warm up the Isles.

Google or Wikipedia this: "Gulf Stream"

The gulf stream carries a LOT of heat from the Carribean sea up to the British Isles.
