two guitarists, basist and singer (all guys, 15)
has to be acoustic guitars
plugged in bass is fine
3 of us can comfortably sing, so harmonies would be good
only one song allowed
we're fine with any era/style
i can play piano, but i'm lead singer and not up for the nerves
... and before you say it, Tribute by Tenacious D is too stupid and jokey.

e.g possibilities are Red Hot Chili Peppers - Road Trippin'
Bedouin Soundclash - When The Night Feels My Song
The Beatles - Ticket To Ride
Deep Blue Something - Breakfast At Tiffany's
The Kooks - Crazy (Radio 1 Live Lounge)
Hanson - Penny And Me
... would try something harder like Beach Boys - I Get Around but dont have the time (about a month).

if you guys have nothing better then we'll just do one of the above.
cheers! j

by the way we're playing to an audience that are from 14 to 19 year olds... and already play songs older than us in the band.

I disagree with the answer that says 'play nothing older than you are.' In fact, an acoustic cover of an older song would be great. I'm a writer/arranger/performer myself and I know how to put this kind of thing together. If each guy can be on a vocal part that would be great - 3 or 4 part male vocals sound great. Esp. if you're passably good guitar players.
Some ideas:

As Tears Go By (Rolling Stones)
Sea of Love (great chords - the original is way out of tune, tho)
Long Long Time (Linda Ronstadt)

OK your 15.....Play nothing older than you are. Play nothing by a one hit wonder (i.e. Breakfast at Tiffanys). Play nothing by Hanson.
Play something in the recent top 40, something the average 15 yr old rock music fan likes. Trust me, you'll do a lot better with that than some Beach Boys.
