But an episode of Heroes is 44 minutes... so try 44 seconds!

We all know what you mean.. adverts/commercials do just generally seem to get in the way of any pleasurable viewing experience... but it's how the world goes round!

'In the 1960s a typical hour-long American show would run for 51 minutes excluding advertisements. Today, a similar program would only be 42 minutes long.'

And it's big business.. a single 30 second slot during the Super Bowl football game in the United States can cost up to $2.7 million as of 2007.

If you're reffering to the popularity of Heroes then I'm sure many would agree with you. Its merits include (after completing half of its first season):
a place in the "best television programs of the year" ,
a nomination for "best new series" of 2007,
a nomination for "best television drama",
a nomination for Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura) for "best supporting actor on a TV series",
and the prize of "favorite new TV drama at the 2007 people's choice awards".

... so there ya go!

I only got thru part of one episode before I figured out that not only is the show surrounded by commercials, they actually put commercials in the show just to defeat the Tivo.

The Japanese fellow jumping for joy with his mate over being able to rent a Nissan Versa when he came to the states.

That's Versa, the hip new car for the ADHD generation, don't forget Versa, oh did I mention Versa.

They do have to many commercials, but that also comes from the popularity of the show. Anyways want some advice? My wife and I alsways start the show like 20 minutes late and then fast forward it through the commercials, or you can go online also...

I'm thinking everyone misunderstood your question. I find the time positivly flys cause so much is happening so fast. This show does NOT drag (like lost does). It is very quick paced and they pack their hour (40 minutes, whatever) full of lots of excitement and adventure.
