Hi, If you are in England e-mail the Land Registry and ask them for the forms and the price list. When they send you the forms they will tell you to find out if you have to pay stamp duty. There is a telephone number for Inland Revenue. I have recently been in touch with I.R. and they told me that if it's a separation or divorce you do not have to pay stamp duty, if there is no money changing hands. Simply fill in the forms and send them back, if i have read it correctly it's only between £50-£75 depending on the value of the property. Hope this helps.Good Luck.

It is called a Quit Deed. You can pick up the paperwork at Staples. It must be signed in front of a Notary Republic ( UPS Store $10) and filed at the court and/or Hall of records.
It would be safer to pay an attorney, and have it part of the divorce decree.

If you are in the UK then you need a solicitor because you need a legal document for this 'transaction.' This document is called a deed of covanent and has to be signed by yourselves plus a witness, i.e. the solicitor, you have to take identification and a good solicitor will do this for you for about £200 and then they send it off to the mortgage company. You cannot do this without a solicitor because it is a legal document.
