Belinda is beautiful and if you are set on both of those names I would use the name Belinda for first name and middle name Jane there you have it both your favorites and they sound very poetic if you ask me. Good Luck !

They are both lovely names. Jane is a very old and dignified name, however... "Jane Doe" and "Plain Jane" and " See Jane. See Jane run" spring immediately to mind. I wouldn't want a name common enough to put on the toe tags of all the unknowns at the morgue. Pair it with something beautiful if you use it; something with more than one syllable and ending in a vowel sound. (i.e. Marie, for a middle name).

Belinda is nice - no older sounding than Jane - but I'm not a huge fan of names beginning with the letter B. It's harsh. Miranda is a name I'd choose over Belinda. It's far more lyrical.

How about Belinda Jane? Say it out loud. "Belinda Jane ... sounds so plain".

Not a fan of either I'm afraid. Harsh letters. Belinda trumps Jane in this answer though.

I am a Linda - and it is NOT a nickname for Belinda - it is a name in its own right. (The alternative was Heidi, thanks dad!) Had nothing to do with a Shirley Temple trend I'm afraid, its just an old family name.

I've never known a Belinda or a Melinda called Linda and I've known quite a few of each. All my Melinda friends have been called "Mel" or "Mellie".

If you choose Belinda, you could always call her Bee. That's cute as cute can be. see?

Everything old is new again - names are no different. Just as long as you don't subject your child to some horrid atrocity that will bring down the wrath of their peer group in high school, you're doing a great job!

:)

Belinda sounds like a name from 200 years ago. Jane is a really great name, however!

I'd have to say Jane I like better, but jane is kinda plain. Belinda just sounds ugly and isn't a really pretty name. Neither of those are my favorite. But how about Kaylee?

Well, my Mom's name is Belinda and she is neither big, fat, etc. She is a petite, very attractive woman. Why don't you just go with Belinda Jane, and call her whichever you like best. You could also go with Belinda and use the nickname Belle. Just a couple of thoughts!

I think they are both pretty but it depends on the last name.

I know this sounds crazy but... if the last name is one syllable (i.e., Smith) go with Belinda. If it's two syllables (i.e., Johnson) go with Jane. It's something I heard long ago when I studied poetry. It's the pentameter of the syllables or something like that. Putting two two-syllable names together sounds like a mouthful and two one-syllable names together sounds kinda flat.

Jane is a pretty and simple name. Belinda can be shortened to Linda, but only if the said party tolerates that. I vote "Jane".

Personal experience of people I knew---
Belinda--overweight, butterball, on welfare.
Jane--thin, athletic, married rich.
Oh, by the way my name is LINDA,
and I like it just like that. When someone would call me Belinda ,by mistake, it just felt like a fat name to me. UGH
JANE, JAYNE wins.
LINDA got overused when I was born, 9 girls in my Class of 1966, were named Linda and there were only 88 graduates.
Shirley Temple's daughter was born the same year I was, and of course her name was Linda---that is where the trend began.
