Well I know there are some users I would like to present a finger up to based on their thumbs down decisions. Ultimately I am not looking for approval of my opinions because they don't really change whether people like them or not, but sometimes I get thumbs down for the most innocuous and non offensive of answers. It often leaves me wondering if people don't like the answer, or if it is just a particular aversion to me. No matter! Thanks for the question Heidi gave me a smile for the day.

I look at a thumbs down as better than them bogusly reporting anything that doesn't suit their emotion-based ideology. It allows the reader to hide the answer. I also liked the thumbs up and down to the asker. Some questions are so out there. maybe that's where the finger could come in. I mean, everybody has a right to be stupid, but some people abuse the privilege!

LOL!
I liked the thumbs up/thumbs down to questions.
I can never figure out why some answers are liked and some not.
Sometimes my "best" answers are not picked as such, and my lousy, flippant answers get picked as best! Go figure. Probably the "good" ones (IMHO) are too long. Or the question triggers a discussion in my head, which may or may not have much to do with the question. Like this answer. :)
PS There are times when my fat finger just hits the wrong link! I usually don't spend much time rating answers.
PPS Without people to challenge us and debate, this site would be no fun!

Too bad they took away the "thumbs up" option from the question section.

Yes. That would be perfect.
In fact, a choice of :
- thumb-up for a good question,
- index-finger up for a great question, and
- birdie up for a WTF question.
