Need help!! trying for baby....

I have periods that last between 29 and 41 days cycles. So they are quite irregular.

I bought some ovulation strips and had sex when the strips told me i was ovulating. My cycle began on the 31st Jan, and ovulated on 15,16th Feb.
I tested (first response pregnancy kit) today It came back negative. and was wondering if i tested too early?????

I have mild cramps, and sore breasts.

If can offer help, thank you!

I'm trying to get pregnant too and like you I am really irregular. I took a test just like you did and I knew when I was taking it that it was probably too early, but I was anxious. Of course it was negative and it only added to my anxiety. I have mild cramps and sore breasts from time to time and I'm not pregnant. I think you tested too early and are reading too much into your symptoms. I keep doing the same thing myself! If you don't get a period around the time you think you might (being irregular really makes it hard to know when!) then test again. That's what I'm planning.

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

You definitely could have taken the test too soon. Some women take quite awhile to show up on pregnancy tests. Make sure you have a sensitive test and test after your period is late. You were only 11-12 days past ovulation today. Many women test positive by now but there are many who don't. I once had negative tests up until I was 16 days past ovualtion.

Good Luck!

You probably tested too early. For the tests to become 99% effective, you have to wait until you've actually missed your period. Since yours are so irregular, you should probably aim for about 14-16 days after you ovulated, and today is still only about 11-12 days. Wait a bit, then just buy the cheapest test.

i am just like you...very irregular...i would wait a bit longer. Also make a note and see if anything else is bothering u or maybe the smell. But i would wait another week or so.

and if anything maybe u should go take a blood test. thatll give you more accurate result..but wait a week for the urine test and for the blodd wait 3 more days and then go

good luck sweetie

I think you took it too soon. And it makes it even harder because your period is so irregular. You should wait like another week and then see. You should come up with better results by then.
