Why do you think so many books, movies and television programs center on pirates?

Because society is funny - We hadn't talked about Pirates since Peter Pan (short of a quick interlude in the movie Hook) and then BAM, here comes Johnny Depp with Pirates of the Carribean. And it just rolled out from there..

Ask yourself another question - What is it about Penguins?? Mr. Morgan Freeman did a documentary on Penguins, next thing you know they're dancing and surfing.. I mean, really, what's up with THAT??
