6 to8 weeks recovery. It really helps,to have things ready for when you go home.move all movable rugs.Rest when your tired,But move around, don't let yourself get stiff.I believe you need extra water to flush out all the drugs you will be given. At bed side ,keep 12pack,bottled water.First week when you get out of bed, don't think about being to slow,Get ready & Get up.Do not lift heavy things. If they have to be moved,do things before surgery.I had nothing else, but at night ,I kept a bucket to pee in,by my bed.you do not need to be roaming around at night.Buy gas-X,Always alot of gas after surgery. It does take at least 6months,to get ALL your strenth back.Good Luck

Don't rush recovery...if you begin doing too much too soon, you will cause complications with sutures (internally and externally), adhesions, and could actually slow up your healing process. It takes about 6-8 weeks to completely heal from this surgery...your surgeon will let you know when it's ok to resume normal activity. Meanwhile, use the time to read, write letters, be online, make phone calls, watch tv and movies, etc
