The marine detachments in Pretoria and Cape Town sometimes have scratch games but that's all I've seen. Try the embassey maybe they know.

Not to my knowledge. Sportsmen with similar physical abilities than those playing Am. football are in SA lured to the sport of rugby.
You may want to learn more about it. If applied to this sport, your general coaching attributes will come in handy and there are many a school that would be interested in you as rugby coach.
Good luck with the cultural adaptation. South Africa is much closer linked to the British system of language and sport than to the American system. With, of course, a strong dose of Africa...

I spent a couple of months in California some time ago, and enjoyed watching American Football. I think it's important to enjoy (or try at least) the aspects of other cultures that differ from one's own. Sport is obviously a large part of this. I think you'll enjoy Rugby, it's much, much faster than AF and there are also way less stoppages. I suggest you join a club and go watch the Tri-Nations when here. There are unfortunately many, many rules and it can be hard to understand why the refs stop play sometimes.

There are no proffessional American Football agencies of any king in South Africa. We play rugy and Cricket. Rugby is way better than American Football anyway.

I don't know of any football clubs here... but we're a rugby mad country :) We do play a bit of baseball though. You'll be able to watch American Football in South Africa on ESPN Sports on DSTV.

I hate to bust your bubble, but generally South Africans scoff at our brand of football. The closest thing I have seen is rugby. Cricket, I haven't quite figured out yet. I need to maintain a certain level of drunkedness to comprehend it all.
I spent several months in Cape Town (I have family there). If you're going to move there, be prepared for a LOT of culture shock.

You can Google for a lot of sites that offer insights to the SA culture, idioms, news, and so forth. Whereabouts do you plan to move to? I can give you a few news sites that have info on just about anything.

my friend, you are going to africa. in that place, no one cares about american foosball or baseballs. over there it is football (soccer), cricket and rugby. however if you do inquire with the embassy they can help you out. but dont be too excited, especially as they preparing for world cup 2010. i dont think many will be interested in your game. and trying to convert people over there is hard. they convert you to their games. the advice i give, is dont go hard out american football. get there, settle in, find info from the embassy or ministry of sport. then learn the basics bout the games there and then if they see you willing to learn theirs, they may learn yours. however dont count on it. bayadanki
