I know it means you lost your job but why say, "You're fired!"?

because back in the caveman days when you messed up a job or it was decided you were no longer the best person for a job theyd just be rid of you-as youve no use in the community-and toss you into the fire pit.
then theyd say: where ug? he fired.

I don't know of anyone who has actually "lost" their job, I mean did they forget where they work?
It actually means that you lost the permission of the management to work there, hence, you lost your job!
