In my case, I had only one or the other, and they napped where they slept. I have 3 children. If the baby is still small, the bassinet would be fine, and safe for them to nap in. As they get older, the crib definitely. It's really about what's easiest for you while they're small.

I have a 6 month old. When she was a newborn she napped and slept in her bassinet. Now she sleeps in her crib. She too naps where I put her. sometimes i would take her up to her crib when she naps, 5 out of 10 she wakes up when i put her down because it's upstairs and the floor creeks. My daughter can sleep anywhere so I am lucky that way.

My daugther napped on the couch during the day when she was a new born, as she got bigger I put her in the crib during the day and she slept in the bassinet. Now she is in the crib at night and either takes naps on the couch still, or the crib. She is teething so its pretty much where she decides to nap. My daughter would not nap in her bassinet, she only would at night. I guess she realized it was associated with bed time. Its up to you though, where ever you find it easier to place her for naps.

Durning the night my son sleeps in the bassinet right next to my bed but during the day he falls asleep in the bouncer seat or the swing most of the time and I let him sleep there as long as I have an eye on him just incase something happens. My son is easily awakened when I pick him up to lay him down in his bassinet so if he falls asleep in the swing or bouncy seat that is where he stays during his naps.

We used the bassinet for everything up until 3 months, then used the crib.

Mine slept in the swing during the day. I have one in there now. If shes not in there shes in her bassinet. I have her there at night too. (Its on wheels so I can move her from the living room to my room) I found that the crib is too big, and can be a bit scary.

If he falls asleep in my arms, I just put him on the sofa and place his boppy pillow around him. But he usually falls asleep in the swing or bouncer, so I just let him sleep there. I will start putting him to the crib when he is probably like 3 months {he is 4 weeks now}. We have the bassinet, too, but I don't really use it.

YOu should use the crib as often as possible to get your baby used to it. Otherwise it's just one more thing you have to retrain them to do later. Why not begin as you mean to go on? Mine always napped in their crib unless they were brand brand new--then I would sometimes use the swing or bouncy simply because at that age their naps happen whereever they fall asleep, they are not predictable yet.

My son sleeps in his crib at night time only. During the day he naps in his playpen basset. Earlier I use to put him in his crib, but he would wake up 10 mins later so I set up the playpen. Also I read somewhere after that you should only put the baby in their crib at night time.

My kids both slept in a crib in my room for the first 4 months. Then I moved the crib to their own room. I let my second son sleep in the swing and bouncy seat for a while cause he had reflux. But it was a HARD habit to break him of. In my opinion it's easier to have them start sleeping in the place you want them to sleep in the long run. Then you have no big changes for them to make
