I have been paying for appoints out of my pocket and it's starting to add up what is the cheapest insurance or help other than goverment help. I'm against that by the way.

It sounds like you're already pregnant (based on what you said about already paying for appointments out of pocket), which means as far as individual insurance goes your never going to get it. When we had Blue Shield it had a $5000 maternity deductible and you couldn't give birth until you'd had the insurance for a full year. Now we have a Blue Cross plan which explicitly does not cover any maternity (though there are some BC plans that do). You can try to negotiate a discount for yourself with your doc and hospital or birthing center.

You can try to get a job at a company that is big enough to cover you regardless of your pregnancy (my friend's husband started at Boeing halfway through her high risk pregnancy and they paid 100% from day one), but a lot of employers insurance policies also won't cover you until after you give birth.

If you don't have a bachelor's degree yet, you can try enrolling at a local university (if you have one near). I did for both of mine, there was no preexisting clause for pregnancy, the premiums were low ($550/semester), $250 deductible, with 70% coverage.

why would you not want to go on medicaid? i understand you are against that, but why? it's helping out the less fortunate. if this is your first pregnancy, you will definitely get approved & you get everything for free, appointments, blood work, medications. you will also get to pick an HMO from a insurance company that is well known in your area. the baby will also be covered after he/she is born!

otherwise, no insurance is going to be cheap , especially for having a baby. do you know how much it cost when you deliver ?
plus if you plan on putting anybody else on your plan.

When I first found out that I was pregnant I didnt have insurance either. However I was looking thru some parenting magazines, and there is one called Maternity Card. I still have the guys email that I talked to about it. They dont pay for everything but it does help with the expense!! I will try to add the email address or site, but if I cant just email me and I can get you the info about the insurance!! antonyamhull@yahoo
Good Luck and God Bless!!

Most insurance companies won't pay for your pregnancy now because they call it a "pre-existing" condition. They will cover the baby after it is born though.

You'd probably be better off getting medicaid to just cover the cost of the pregnancy and delivery.

You can get Medicaid for pregnant women which only pays for your medical cost while you're pregnant. Free of cost and it is terminated after you give birth. This would be your best bet. You are already going to have to come out of pocket enough with your new baby.

Cheap and insurance don't sound good in the same phrase! However, there are hmo's that should be able to lessen your out of pocket costs. Try http://kaiserpermanente.org for cheaper insurance, try http://bcbs.com for blue cross blue shield it's more expensive but you get better choice of which doctors and hospitals etc.

most likely none since you are already pregnant, I am assuming this would be private insurance, not through your employer. The only group insurance I found that would cover an already pregnant woman was blue cross blue shield. Good luck.

Why are you against it sorry not everyone can afford the best for themselves and their children but this way they can. It isnt everyone who lives off the goverment some of us really need the help. who cares if you are against it you could have just asked for the help instead of the insult added!
