1% is what it used to be. Sorry didn't know the rate had changed since I moved to France. I have just investigated and it is 0% under £150,000 and 1% between £150,000 and £250,000 if the land /property is in a disadvantaged area and 1% between £125,000 and £250,000 in other residential areas. So it really depends on where the property is.

In the UK its 1% for properties between £125000 - £250000 - ie will cost £1,500 on the price you have given
Stamp Duty may not have to be paid on property up to the value fo £150,000 if the government have declared it to be a 'disadvantaged area'

1% of price you pay, not the valuation.
Some postcodes benefit from stamp duty exemption if the price is under 150k e.g. regeneration areas. Your solicitor will tell you if this is the case.
Properties priced 125k - 250k = 1% stamp duty
