I thought the whole point of 'text talk' or whatever it's called is that it saves time and doesn't use as many characters in the text message, thereby allowing you to write a longer message. Do you have a limited number of characters you can write with your keyboard? Is your daughter desperately short of time? If so, go ahead. If not, write properly.

Txt has a place but not in the school curriculum. I'm more intrigued about the 'weapons question'. I'm assuming you're American but what on earth is your daughter's school doing teaching her about weapons? What next? I dread to think where we go from here. Invading Iran with an all-female brigade?

First off, its txt, not text. Second, I dont care if its 3007, this is American, and we have whats left of the English language. Third, I am paying out the nose in taxes, local and federal, that damn education she's getting better be for something, the least she can do is LEARN and USE proper grammar.

Ive never seen her questions, but people who talk to the world at large in txt should not be allowed to communicate at all.

Txt and slang are for informal uses, such as talking amongst friends, addressing the global community on public forums such as this requires the ability to use proper grammar, or at least something close to it. Its just plain rude.

I don't care what year it is, text is for mobile phones and not for general writing. It's a sloppy & lazy way of writing and I fully agree with poeple for having a go. Your daughter should use proper English and that is that.

maybe as a lot of people on here are actually grown up enough to formulate a complete sentence.............I can and do know how to text BUT with that in mind I do that with friends and not when I am trying to have other people reply or respond.......after all JUST because she uses it does not make it right surely.

amosunknown says it how it is.

Txt is a corruption of the language. It is also highly annoying.

It's use is understandable in any technology which limits or charges more per character, but that does not apply on forums.

If she can't be bothered to write a question properly why should anyone be bothered to answer?
Better get her used to the idea of writing properly before she has to apply for a job, or indeed do anything else in adult life.
