You may have on board sound (built into the motherboard), or you may need to install a sound card in one of the PCI slots on your motherboard to get sound (they're cheap, like $5 or $10). Check the back of your computer for jacks that look like a headphone jack. There should be three or four of them if you have sound hardware. One should be a speaker out jack, sometimes it's green, and often it has a speaker icon by it on the case for onboard sound. This is where the speakers plug in. If it isn't there, you need a sound card.

No, you need a sound card installed in order for the computer to output sound.

Just because it does not have a sound card does not mean it doesn't have onboard sound. check the back of the computer to make sure there are no headphone jacks. If there are a few headphone jacks on the computer then it has a sound adapter.

Then you just need to find out what kind, download the drivers and it will work.

the two I certainly have misunderstood your question or anybody else right here has :) i think of you're saying which you extremely prefer to hook up your audio device with out an amplifier - wherein case they gained't artwork. Your extensive-unfold soundcards don't have an amp that could tension extensive-unfold HiFi audio device, and that i've got by no skill heard of one that does. you are able to whether use the output of your soundcard and connect it in to an AUX IN in the adventure that your place device has one extra enter - this will require an basic stereo jack to stereo RCA connectors (Y cable). there is sound adjustment on your soundcard by skill of way of abode windows volume administration, so be careful on the subject of the levels you utilize as you ought to break your HiFi or audio device incredibly easily! Use a reasonable point from the computing device and save the HiFi at low point (initially!)
