We have a 7 year old who is asking a lot of questions since she has friends whose parents are getting divorced. We hate lying to her but we are not sure if we should tell her yet that we had been married previously. Any ideas in how to deal with this?

7 year olds understand more than you think they do... be honest with her... just answer her questions as they come... if she asks why just say "Mommy and Daddy couldn't get along anymore so they decided it would be best if they parted ways"... believe it or not she will understand...

What would be the reason to tell her? You're not lying by omitting this fact since she is young....it's called being a parent and shielding her from life. Once she's old enough to have a conversation with you about it, then talk to her if you want, but until then there is no need.

If she asks be truthful. Otherwise, I would wait until she is a bit more mature (12 or so).
