It all started because King Henry IIIV wanted to divorce one of his wives, (the mother of Queen Mary) the Catholic church said no, so he started the Anglican Church.
Things got much worse when Queen Mary ascended to the throne. She didn't get the nickname Bloody Mary for being nice.
Feeling upset because of what happened to her mother, she sought revenge.

Henry the VIII took control of the Church in England and kept a lot of Catholic ideas. With the coming of the Reformation the Church began getting a more Protestant stint but is a type of hybrid.

King Henry VIII wanted to divorce his wife Catharine, and the Catholic church wouldn't allow that, so King Henry 'separated' the Church in England so that his divorce could go through and he could marry Anne Boleyn. The then 'Archbishop of Canterbury' was made the 'head' of the Church of England, which became the 'Anglican' church in England, and eventually the Episcopal church in the U.S. The Episcopals and Anglicans consider themselves to be just as 'Catholic' as the Catholics do ... it has to do with the 'procession of saints' ... that the priests of the Anglican church were before the split priests of the Catholic church, whose 'ordination' comes down from the Apostle Peter ... where the 'Protestant' churches don't have this done 'in the line of procession' ... which makes them PROTESTANT and both the Episcopals and the Catholics 'catholic' (which means UNIVERSAL). And these days, the Catholic church in the U.S. is 'fully ordaining' Episcopal priests who want to become Catholic priests even if they are 'married' to a woman ... thus even though there is a 'Catholic rule' against 'marriage' in the Catholic church for priests, some now Catholic priests are married.

Henry VIII began the Church of England after being refused a divorce. It maintained most of the Catholic lithurgies and rituals, essentially.

Henry VIII wanted a divorce. The Pope said "No". Henry said "Screw you, I'm starting my own church".
And, thus the Church of England was born.

The Church of England was founded by one of the English kings (I think it was King James I ) in order to keep the tithes in England instead of going to the Vatican which was considered corrupt by many English of the period.. He commissioned the Concordance translation of the bible, to create an official English translation of the Bible to make it more available to the Commoners.
