Hundreds of studies have confirmed that exposing our children to a steady diet of violence in the media makes our children more violence prone. Do you agree or diagree? and if so why?

I agree. It's called desensitizing children to violence or the disregard of human lives. Children can't tell the difference between people acting on tv and real life. They think killing, rape, etc... is no big deal if they see it all the time on tv. I think parents should control what their children watch and limit it because they will have all their lives to watch junk on tv, but save it for after the formiable years.

The shooters at Columbine only went on their killing spree after hundreds of hours "practicing" shooting through violent video games and having the access to guns. We have to do more to protect our children from the evil of this world. Because evil will always be there, our children may not.

I agree. I am a foster parent, most kids we get are abused , these kids continue on abusing and being abused. One of the kids we had come live with us was just over 1 year old he stayed with us until he was 5. So you would think he was too young to understand or remember. WRONG as this child got older he became more violent and abusive towards the other kids in our home, the kids in school and the neighbourhood kids. Even though he wasn't living with his parents I believe the weekly visits he had keep those dreadful abuse memories fresh in his mind which in turn made him more violent. I also noticed an attitude change when he returned from his visits!

There are just as many studies showing that films and games don't. Ergo, we don't know and neither side can claim proof.

But, of course, the real reason people are getting uppity about "violence in video games" is because parents think the TV and the computer are baby sitters instead of sitting and reading with, and talking to, their kids. They aren't "parents", they're breeders who don't know how to raise kids and look to blame anyone else in a crisis.

I get REALLY tired of idiot parents wailing,

> "He killed himself because of ___insert popular entertainment___!"

I have only one question to ask such idiots:

>"Where the hell were YOU in the hour before he committed suicide?"

Take a look at the news and the police blotters: the vast majority of suicides and school shooters were "latchkey kids".

I definitely agree. It makes violence commonplace and desenstizes children to it. Look at how cruel kids are to each other and even to animals-terrible. When I was in school there was no danger of a kid bringing a gun to school to kill us. How many school shootings have we had in recent years?? there is a correlation, whether we want to acknowledge it or not.

I agree, and would add that it's not just kids, but all of our society gets desensitized when they see violence (or any other behavior) regularly.

I absolutely agree. If kids see something constantly, they begin to believe it's the norm.

I agree, they get used to it and when they grow up they believe that that is what they should do.
