There are a few different options.

First, you could try booting into safe mode by hitting the "F8" a few times before the "Windows XP" splash screen pops up. From there select the Administrator logon and it should not have a password. From there you can delete the other logon or create your own with your own password.

If the Administrator account has a password, then it gets a bit tougher.

You could get a Linux password cracker to edit the SAM file to clear the password, but that can be a little much for the average user.

Another option would be to reinstall Windows XP, this would probably be the easiest option for you.

Try booting it in safe mode, then logging on as an administrator. But if you bought it at a thrift store used, your best bet is to just reinstall Windows.
