Yes we should. Ted Heath, (Traitor Ted) Conservative PM lied to the country!!!Though always loudly protesting the virtues of democracy, there was nothing democratic in the way he eased the UK into Europe. The people had nothing to do with it.
He deliberately and wilfully deceived them about the Common Market. He swore it was a purely trade association, an attempt to form a gigantic free trade area leading towards a family of sovereign states, cooperating freely and vigorously on a range of mutually advantageous issues.
An official Tory White Paper on Britain's entry into the European Community stated categorically: "There is no question of any erosion of essential national sovereignty." It was all moonshine, of course. Heath lied through his teeth. I know which way I would vote..................OUT!!!!!!!!!!

We almost had one to vote for the EU consititution which I'm pretty sure would have been a sure-fire NO! Fortunately, rather strangely, France saved the day and voted NON. It is interesting to follow through on your view but I don't think each generation could expect a vote on long-term matters just because we've moved on 20 years. Personally, I voted for the Common Market initially (long ago!) when it was intended to be an open market for commerce. Naturally enough, politicians get their grubby and sticky fingers into a gravy train and suddenly we've become a political Union heading haphazardly to a Federal Europe. Now I've just written that, perhaps we do need a vote after all!!

Dear Karen s. Ted was wrong. He believed as most people in Europe did this was to be a common market. The problem now is that Blair has his heart set on a big pay day in Brussels. If you ask 80% of people in Europe they want to go back to a simple cooperation between the people. We are letting anyone join and picking up the tab. Blair will try to tie us in before he goes. We should have a vote. TO GET OUT. Labour has given away our Britain not Ted Heath.

A pointless question on ecu club fairly. it is via the fact we would first could desire to vote out the libdems, labour and conservatives. None of them in power will ever provide us that option. If we've been given the prospect then there's a possiblility we would leave the ecu. thoroughly leaving exhibits in the polls at approximately 50 50. Leaving aside from commerce because it became into initially meant and the final poll confirmed seventy 8% for that. precise now at present a referendum in each and all of the ecu international locations additionally teach some 50 50 split. interior of people who've newly joined in the final 4 years to stay in is approximately eighty%. this is a actuality however that the German and French governments are dropping administration of their electorate because it form of feels the two have a average majority in the polls now that easily opt for to leave the ecu aside from commerce. i think of human beings throughout Europe are beginning up to sense the ecu is a corporation run by utilising the few for the few and the first public do no longer count form. Plus they seem to sense that the boys in Brussels are no longer being held to blame for each and all of the errors and corruption. i easily sense that this is being run by utilising the politboro in Brussels by utilising the unelected extra each and all of the time in simple terms because of the fact the old u.s. became into run. the ecu is in a reasonably unhappy state on the 2nd and fantastically those in the eurozone. would not seem as though they have any concept what to do approximately it the two and the squabbling is getting plenty worse. i think of each and all of the politicians desires of a United Europe is going to pass up in smoke and that's of their very own making.

If we had a vote at this moment in time about just staying part of the EU, I'd vote a qualified 'yes' because I think its important to be part of a strong economic block that values things like workers' rights and social welfare to counter the right-wing reactionary US. Just being part of the EU means we still remain a sovereign nation.

If we had a vote on the proposed EU consitution I'd vote a definate NO. Who wants to be part of some giant superstate?

On that basis shouldn't we also have a vote on whether we still support the Act of Union? Or whether England should split up into the old Saxon Kingdoms? Or whether we should send the Normans back?
