And please don't tell me the same old BS I've seen as answers to essentially the same question. I think I must have installed Yahoo Toolbar and then uninstalled it. However, I have tried the Control-Panel -> Internet Options -> General Tab -> Home Page route. Changing the URL for the home page just DOES NOT WORK. I'm tired of www.yahoo.com coming up, it's just too noisy and distracting. http://search.yahoo.com would be much better for me. But I can't even set that. Arg!!!! I almost feel like it's a Yahoo conspiracy, or I have remenants of Yahoo Spyware on my machine! (Ever had spyware that would not allow you to change the default url? Same thing)... So is there some registry utility or somesuch to end this madness? I even tried reinstalling Yahool toolbar, but no good so far.

There is definately something wrong with your "machine". If you can't change the home page under Tools > Internet Options... Do you have anti-virus/anti-spyware on your "machine". If not I recommend it!

At least run once a week all the programs listed here.
5. http://search.yahoo.com not needed as Home Page.
When Yahoo ToolBar is seen you have the

Open a browser window; go to Tools and click on Internet Options. At the top of the dialogue box, you'll see an area where the name of your present home page is entered. Remove this, and replace it with the home page you want, or you can leave it blank. Click apply, and then close the browser; when you open a new browser window, it should go to the new home page you specified, or remain blank if you specified no home page.

If you still can't reset your home page, then I would presume you do in fact have some kind of spyware/malware on your system, and your best bet would probably be to run some kind of spyware detection program. You can also go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs; after the list populates, check it to see if there are any ad-type programs that may be blocking you from changing your home page, and delete them.

ok this is what you have to do:

on ie6 - 7 go to tools on the file and click in it then go to internet options then type in the url you want to go to and make it so it like this http://www.search.yahoo.com and click OK this will make it go to that websiet unless some other program makes it not do so.

the nest registery tool is from pctools.com

download.com is a good trusted website use that for links to download stuff and get the best downloads from there
