The fissile material is uranium. Light water reactors must use enriched uranium, while heavy water reactors can use natural uranium.

The control rods are generally made out of silver, indium, or cadmium.

The moderator is for most reactors hydrogen in the form of water or deuterium (heavy water), there are however reactors that use liquid metals like graphite or beryllium.

The moderator imparts heat energy to plain water in a separate loop that drive high pressure steam turbines.

The reactor housing, controls, and containment are made out of too many things to mention.
