My husband has been divorced from his x wife for 7 yrs and we have been married for 6. She had a baby at the beginning of the month( yes by another man..lol..) and gave it the same last name of my husband because she never changed her last name. Will this affect me or him in the long run. Such as if something happened to him could the baby get benefits. Or is there anything else I need to worry about.

NO you shouldn't worry about this, I've seen this before it is really no big deal and doesn't reflect on you or your husbands marriage

If the ex still has the husband's last name, it was probably simply just out of convenience (and not having to answer a lot of questions from other people as to why the baby has a different last name). If the baby is not your husbands, the baby would not be eligible for any benefits from your husband should something happen to him, only the biological or custodial father. And, no, it should not affect you or your husband (unless of course just thinking about it worries you to death!). Forget it and find fun things to do with your husband!

You should really be asking her if she needs any help and try to get along with her. Why are women so insecure and possesive it's such a turn off. Besides you should really be proud that she thinks that much of your husband that she would allow her baby to have his last name.

Nope doesn't affect you at all, the kid will probably change its name when it gets older, but yeah you don't have any financial obligation or anything. It is like if your last name was smith, and so someone named their name smith. It is legally her last name and so she can use it however she wants. Do they have kids? Why are you still interested in his ex s life, I know my husbands ex I wish would just go bye bye but they have a kid together.

Not to worry. The baby is not his so there will be no adverse financial consequences. The mom probably did the right thing since she never changed her name back. We already have too many kids with names different from their parents' names.

You poor thing. That would really make me mad. I understand how you feel, my husband was never married before and never had any kids, but it would really make me mad as we would want to pass his name onto our son. Not to mention worried that he would allow this ... he should be more protective of you. Your his wife now. I would sit down and talk to him about it and contact a lawyer ... unless he's cheating on you. You need to find out either way. Good Luck.

I would wonder if it's his baby ... kinda scary. But then that's why I don't want to be with a man who's been married before ... he's already shared really important 1st times with someone else. Maybe you should ask him if he's cheating ... sounds fishy to me.

I will NOT affect you, a DNA test would be required by the District Attorney if she tries to file for child support.

I don't think so... I think the ex just did that becuase she obviously made an identiy for herself under your hub's last name.. don't worry about it. Now if she listed your hub as the father on the birth certificate..THEN you'd have reason to worry. lol
