Hello Inquirer

It makes management more scientific. The basic idea is to manage variation and make operations more predictable. It has been applied in several spheres beginning from manufacturing, service industry, sales, health care, BPOs, to sales & marketing.

You can look for some good case studies at American Society for Quality at http://www.asq.org/ There is an interesting reading of article on its application in sales & marketing at http://www.phptr.com/articles/article.asp?p=457313&rl=1

To learn more about Six Sigma basics, read the following introductory articles http://www.asq.org/sixsigma/beginner/variation.html and http://www.asq.org/sixsigma/beginner/delight_customers.html

Hope it helps you appreciate its applications.

With warm regards
