Kraftwerk have been the cornerstone of techno-electronic music since the 80's. They are the Kings of innovative techniques in musical composition such as "Autobahn", where the band drove along the Autobahn with a microphone hanging out of the car and used the recording to produce an electronic music collage of motoring sounds. Similarly "Pocket Calculator" came about when a band member discovered that when he used his pocket calculator next to an AM radio that strange noises were generated, especially when "pressing down a special key". All electro and techno bands since have a debt in some way to the pioneers who are Kraftwerk. Do I get the job with NME now?

Considering that Brian Eno was already working with Robert Fripp and Tangerine Dream were a going concern I think there's a strong probability that music would have progressed along much the same lines. Perhaps Devo and Depeche Mode and Gary Numan would have had different outcomes. But beyond being the first notable purveyors of Eurobeat synth pop with "Autobahn" there were few moments of Kraftwerk in the spotlight.

No! Like them or not, much of the techno and "Haus" or "House" music we hear now owes much to Kraftwerk. Also, many disco and New Wave bands were heavily influenced by the techno sound. There might never have been..*gasp!*...a Devo! I happen to like techno...it's soothing in it's repetition, unlike rap.

This sounds dutch or afrikaans. ek weet nie wie kraftwerk is nie, maar dit klink of jy baie van dit hou; so nee, vir jou sal musiek nooit dieselfde wees sonder kraftwerk nie. Dag!

definitly not... when you think of the pioneers of techno music with autobahn in 1974... incredible...
boring i know but i've seen them live.... rather odd
it doesn't take long for the YAWN pink floyd fans to come out of the closet..... i'm sorry but kraftwerk were groundbreaking and forefathers of technomusic... not a bunch of w**kers producing boring concept albums...

Absolutely. Kraftwek isn't nearly as influential as other progressive bands such as Yes, Pink Floyd and Gentle Giant.

You could argue no, since Coldplay nicked their riff for one of the songs on the X and Y album.
