Sounds to me like your about to go any day here. I remember the uncomfiness. I deeply sympathize with you. Your doc probably wants to strip your membranes because you are considered full term, and you are uncomfortable, and also somewhat dialated. Yes it is normal to lose your appetite before the onset of labor, I felt less hungry during my last couple weeks. If your that uncomfortable and your doc says it's ok to go ahead and start labor, I would go through with it. But if you want your Father with you, then don't let them strip the membranes. Your lucky soon enough you'll be holding your little one!!! I am 34 wks pregnant with my third, and I am getting antsy! And already getting uncomfortable. Good luck and CONGRATS!!!!

Its ok to rant and rave thats whats nice about being pregnant. But I must tell you I know exactly how you feel. I am 32 weeks pregnant with twins and I have gotten to the end of my tether. I have been 3 cm and 80% effaced for 3 weeks now, I have been on bedrest since 24 weeks I cant even move walk or roll over in the bed. I cant eat because I have no more room for food. I am getting kicked in the cervix and in the ribs at the same time OUCH!!!!! Its very normal for you to loose your appitite when the end is near but its not a sign of going into labor anytime soon. I would suggest WALK WALK WALK!!!! Go to the mall and just keep walking until you cant walk anymore. I dont think that you need to have your membranes stripped it will happen on its own and by the sounds of it, it may be happening very soon! Good Luck and Congrats!!! Dont worry it almost over just remember you wont be pregnant forever and when its over you'll be crying cuz you miss it!

Okay any thing after 36 weeks is okay. Your dr stripping your membranes is a normal process. Okay so I've had two babies and I'm currently 17 weeks. So I say to that you will be okay. Being uncomfortable is normal you are about to have a baby. My dr stripped my membranes and my mother wasn't due to be home until sunday and she did that on a tuesday I didn't move a lot and then decied to walk when she got home and guess what I went into labor. Stripping your membranes doesn't insure you are going to go into labor just limit your activity. Also a bath can comfort you. And contracting is normal at 38 weeks. You are due or almost due. So relax and know your body is getting you ready.

I totally empathize with your situation. I felt exactly like how you are and I didn't have our daughter until 3 days before my due date!! I was horribly miserable.

I wouldn't recommend to strip your membranes just yet. I am a pretty conservative person and wouldn't try that until you past your due date, but not before.

Here are some other remedies you can try to help induce labor:
1) Walk (a lot)- this helps to bring the baby's head down further in your pelvis which puts pressure on your cervix which helps dilation. That is why they recommend walking during active labor as well.
2) Drink red raspberry tea- Chinese remedy that helps with pregnancy and menopause
3) blue/black cohosh- get it in the tincture form- it tastes disgusting though. It is an Indian remedy helping to induce labor.
4) Primrose oil- I took it orally and inserted it vaginally. This helps to soften the cervix. You will not dilate if pressure is not on your cervix so make sure that you walk a lot too!! I took it orally 1 time at morning and at night and inserted it before I went to bed so it softens and absorbs while I'm laying down at night.

I hope this helps you- I really think that the baby comes when he/she wants to. Just try to keep relaxed and let your body do this amazing work. Good luck :)

I'm 39 weeks and i laugh when people ask me how i feel because i really don't know how i feel, just like crap i guess. i have to force myself to eat half the time and yes your probably as uncomfortable as i am , try to get lots of sleep if you can. good luck, we'll be proud parents in a matter of weeks!
