hmmm difficult one.

I have in the past used bicarbonate of soda on my carpets (baking soda, sodium bicarbonate to give it it's other possible names)

Sprinkle this liberaly over the rug, lightly brush in, leave for about an hour than vac up. It may not work in this case but it is inexpencive and safe to use.

If the weather is ok the best thing is to air it outside- hang it on the washing line for a few hours to blow away the smell. Anything else you put on the rug will just make it worse

I'd let it air out somewhere first--outside or in a room you don't use a lot. Then I'd put some baking soda on it for about an hour then vacuum it off the carpet. Baking soda will take any smell away! Best of Luck!

hang the rug outside in the fresh air for a while that hopefully should get rid of the smell

I think that things usually smell a bit when they come back from the cleaners. I would reccomend just opening windows and doors and wait for the smell to go away.

Try hanging it outside if it's just the deodorisers , it should diminish. There are lots of products that neutralise smells Oust is the one I use.
