It's not necessary to have a landline. I have a relative who is in a care home. They installed Sky free of charge but he had to pay £25 because he didn't have a phone in the room.

No you don't. When we moved into our new home there was as sky dish already installed and i just plugged my old sky box into it and away it went. You need the phone line to order movies and use the interactive stuff on sky but if you don't want to use those you can just plug in and go. not sure if they can do a new install without a phone line though?

I don't think you need a phone line. When I got my dishes installed ( years ago) I told them that I did not want them connected to my BT line. The only disadvantage I have ever noticed is that we can't join in the interactive stuff ( games and quizzes) but don't know if it's all changed now.

Nope. You definitely have to have a landline. Just read my contract.
