Focus today is on "Cheap Labor" however, we also must focus on "Cheap Ethics". As the USA moves forward to fix the enviroment, we're having many companies abandon ship for locations where they can pollute till their hearts desired. Additionally, the labor laws in the lands of others allow for child workers, slavery, and poor working conditions.
In my opinion, I feel that the USA should enact laws of "Uniformity". Therefore, if a US company is required to limit pollution, then this applies to their actions abroad. Should standard violate USA laws, then the product be refused porting in the USA or tax fines. Same with working conditions. If a company has a retirment plan here, they must provide it to workers in India. This would level the playing field and we wouldn't see corporations robbing people of their retirements for profits to their own pockets.

It only displaces an American worker if there are American workers in that specific area who are attempting to be hired for that particular job. For the most part, both legal and illegal immigrants migrate to areas where there is a demand for cheap labor. That demand is often caused by a lack of native workers willing to do that job for that price. Hence, you often see Mexican or Latino illegal immigrants working as laborers on construction crews but seldom see them working as the superintendent, manager or accountant in the office.

When you bring in someone to do a job that an American could have done, that American is displaced, and has no job.
