It seems that people like to throw that word around a lot. I know that some conservatives like to apply that word to liberals.

Conservatives think anyone with an education is an elitest. Please, please, vote for an elitest during the next election.
As a side note, I totally admire anyone who is smart enough to call herself a Deist and take on the title of one of Led Zeppelin's best songs. You should move to Utah and look me up. ;)

Elitists are people who walk around with their noses so high in the air that they breathe ozone because they believe they are just so superior to everyone else. The causes are many -- some are elitists because of fame, others because of wealth, and some because of beliefs (kind of like Christians who have that "holier than thou" attitude). In many cases it's true of liberals because many liberals are 100% convinced that their view is "right" and anyone who doesn't agree is an idiot -- so they're not truly as open-minded as they claim to be. Here are some more specific examples: Many vegetarians (of which the vast majority are liberals) are very critical of people who eat meat and believe they are morally superior to people who do eat meat. The same can be said of animal rights activists. BOTTOM LINE: People who look upon others with contempt and believe that they are somehow "better" than others are elitists.

I'm a self-professed conservative elitist. By that I mean I believe the average person is dumber than a stump. Look at your neighbors. Do YOU want these schmoes making important decisions?

An elitist Liberal is a Liberal who thinks they have all the answers and that anyone who disagrees is "stupid."
You know, the college professors like Ward Churchill, people like like the crew of Air America.
A condescending attitude is a requirement, and a disdain for anything anti-socialist. As long as they don't have to share their wealth, just yours.
