isn't it windchimes reflects bad chi? so it would be located outside the house. our house faces NW and because it is the year of the pig, NW is prone to mishaps. a guy said that windchimes attract spirits, and that scares me, so I'm just wondering what is an alternative for windchimes.

Tuned bamboo that sigh in the wind. If you have enough you can use this device as a "Spirit wall" so there is no straight line to an entrance.

You can do all kind of things in feng shui.
1. you canuse a ba gua mirror
2. you can use a red ribbon to attract the ch'i to another place in your home
3. you can use a gold fish and fish bowl, picture of a fish of a fish figureen if you do not want a real fish.
Use lights, colors
and others.
If you haven;t read it I recommend "Move Your Stuff: Change Your Life" by Karen Rauch Carter.
This book is based on the black hat sect of feng shui.
