If so, how much do they cost normally?

Depending on the model you have, you may be able to purchase a used one from a computer store (smaller shops carry things like this) and can range in price but aren't usually too expensive. I bought a Dell power cord for $30 (Cdn). EBay may have a few deals too.

You can also purchase a Targa power cord that lists your laptop (check the back of the packaging for compatibilities). These are almost double the price of a used one tho. You could go back to the manufacturer of the laptop but keep in mind this route can be pricey. I owned a Sony Vio a few years ago, for the price Sony wanted for a replacement part...I bought a new laptop and had dollars, lots of dollars, left over :)

The power cord I purchased is still in use by my daughter...the cord was purchased in 2004, so these do have a good longevity if taken care of.

Good luck

You can go to the website for your computer company (www.dell.com, www.hp.com) and there should be an ordering section. I know for my laptop, an HP, it would have cost $90 (it didn't because my cord was sparking and causing a fire hazard, and I'm under warranty).

If you just want a new powercord because yours is lost or because you would like a spare, you will have to pay for it. However, if yours is damaged and you are still under warranty, calling the company should get you a new one with no problems!

Good luck

You can either go to a computer store (bring the laptop with you & ensure proper fit and charge) or contact the brand name of your laptop and order a replacement. The computer store would prob be the cheapest but the quality of the product might be better if you order it from the actual company

Go to the manufacturer web site. They will cost about $30 for the whole thing. I've seen $50.

Nope, you can't buy one for your laptop. The only replacement parts they make are limited to all but your laptop.

Of course you can buy a replacement power chord for your laptop. You can check with your laptop vendor (i.e. Dell, HP, Gateway, etc...) or you could go to CompUSA, BestBuy, or any other small computer vendor. They will just need to know the specifications on your laptop to ensure you have a compatible cable.

Yes. See the manufacturer.

Generally they cost more than you think. Around $40.

Also a number of them were recalled. If yours is one they will replace it for free. Free is good.

So check for the recall before paying anything.

I would disconnect my power cord and take it with me to Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, some place that has an electronics department and ask them for help. I'd say under $10, but that is just a wild guess.

depends on the brand - replacements are available from the manufacturer but if a universal cord will work they are much cheaper

GO TO THE Radio Shack web site first ( odds are this is the easiest way )
