How does the second amendment promote and secure rights that balance the common good and individual freedoms?

because number one an armed citizen pop is much harder for the govt to oppress than an unarmed! That was the first thought I believe that was on the framers mind. Having been through a oppressive form of Govt with England. Secondly, they were not liberal socialists as some think and realized Govt cant always take care of you. So you need a gun for self defense.
but it ensures freedom and self preservation thats the 2nd amendment

It is my firm belief that our Founding Fathers didn't list the Bill of Rights in any old order; they arranged them that way for a reason. They realized that the most important right is the right to freedom of speech; they also realized that in order to keep and protect that right, you had to be guaranteed the right to be able to defend it. Hence, the placement of the Second Amendment.
Think about it: without the right to keep and bear arms, how would you protect your other rights and ultimately yourself?
Without the Second Amendment, there would be no Bill of Rights.
Study your history; in every dictatorship that ever existed, the second thing to go was freedom of speech. The first to go was the right to keep and bear arms. The dictators all knew that in order to subjugate the people, first you must disarm them. Hitler knew it, Stalin knew it, Castro knows it, hell, even Caesar knew it.
I just can't figure out why some people in today's society don't know it.

By having the power and right to own and use arms it gives the protection agenst a tiranical goverment from taking power.
In every case were a totalian goverment took power over a demacratic one the first thing the new goverment did was resind the rights of free ownership of arms by the people.
This is just what the liberal Demacrats want to do to the citizens of the USA

It ensures the power to the people over an violent or tyrant force. That includes your own government. Also, helps to ensure a defense for the safety of you and your family.
