I just started saving my aluminum cans to recycle myself (why give the cash to the township, right) anyway.... any ideas of other items around the house that are also aluminum that I can recycle as well. Such as are the cans that soups and vegetables come in aluminum??

Most soup and vegetable cans are no longer aluminum. Friskies cat food cans are the only brand I know that still use aluminum as far as cat and dog food. Carryout containers from a lot of restaurants are still aluminum. You really can rule out most canned goods, they are not aluminum any longer. Look for people throwing out storm doors and window frames. Most of these are aluminum. (Obviously not wood) The cheaper window and screen units are almost always aluminum. Had a goofy friend who got into this too heavy and took out one of the light poles over the expressway and got arrested. He did get alot of aluminum though and a jail sentence.

Most of the commercial recycle for aluminum take only the cans because they are cost effective to recycle. Soup cans are steel and while they are recycled most people don't have enough to make it worth while to recycle by themselves. Glass is another material that is collected curbside but is not cost effective for people to collect and sell on their own. Brass and copper are good items to recycle but most of us don't collect enough to be worth anything.
