Personally I thought the visual effects were amazing.

Yes, and I thought it looked amazing too.
The problem I found with it was that there was no pacing in the film which led to me feeling no sense of urgency in the girl's plight.
I'm sure I read an interview with the director where he admits his inexperience led him to make mistakes during filming that he didn't discover until editing, maybe that had something to do with it.
But I certainly hope he makes more films!

I did. Personally, I liked the book more (big Neil Gaiman fan), but it was pretty cool. At first I thought it was a bit freaky, but it turned out okay. And you're right, the visuals were something else.

Odd, very odd....

But that doesn't take anything away from the use of differing camera angles, zoom etc. The direction, and set were inspirational as well.

I'd love to see Neverwhere if that's been released on DVD as I really enjoyed that book.
