Hang in there! I have ADD big time, and it seems to be related with a serotonin imbalance which also causes anxiety problems. I have learned some coping exercises, like orderly multitasking to keep the wandering elements of my mind occupied, and harnessing some obsessive-compulsive components to write everything down and keep careful records. Computers, with their toy-like properties have been a godsend and an aid with organization. The stuff I would normally lose is always findable, and it is fun to be organized with these things.

ADD ( Attention Defecit Disorder)

Same as ADHD without the symptom of hyperactivity.
Mangosteen works in the same way for ADD and recommended dosage is the same.

ADHD;

This disease plagues parents and children alike. Often children with ADHD are placed on a drug called Ritalin (Methylhenidate). These medications hide the symptoms but fix nothing. Many of the imbalances in the MATRIX will exacerbate or may even cause ADHD.

Large numbers of emotional disorders have been linked to adrenal hormone imbalances. Adrenal hormones are essential for life. When you experience physical or psycholological stress, the adrenal glands release natural chemicals such as adrenaline, DHEA, and cortisol (all adrenal hormones) directly into the bloodstream that calm the stress. In the case of ADHD and ADD the Mangosteen Xanthones help to balance the liver and the production of these hormones, which in turn alleviates stress. A continuous flow of xanthones in the body will insure further alleviation of stress.

In individuals with ADHD, mal-absorption problems may diminish levels of tryptophan and other amino acids. Xanthones have been found to balance the tryptophan/serotonin relationship in the brain, through detoxification and healing of the liver by the xanthones of the Mangosteen. Xanthones also are anti-inflammatory, and thus the Mangosteen may help heal the gut and cause the return of normal gut absoption. This would also help end many allergic food reactions that are caused by mal-absorption.

Recommended serving; 1-3 oz per day depending on age.

You may want to actually try a diet that's relatively free of refined sugar, preservatives, and excess chemicals. Some of them can really mess a person up. And while I love sweets and sugary stuff, if I get too much I become an emotional basketcase. Try your local health food stores, and the organic sections of the supermarket.

Good luck!

I have ADD and I wouldn't survive without my Adderall. That being said, I have actually looked for other treatments. The most favorable solution is called the Feingold diet, and it has seen much success. I tried it, but it has too many things on it that I love. Maybe you can have better luck with it, as others have.

Good luck!

ADD, (another designer disease) just a new name for a so called new disease. ADD is so new on the scene some do not even know what it is. Has it ever occured to you that maybe your diet might be causing your attention deficit!

Herbs? No! They are good but temporary, but there is a diet that you could try, and in a few days you will not know ADD.

An omega-3 supplement could work wonders for brain function and concentration if you are deficient (which most of us are). You can also add ground flax to muffin recipes, shakes, yogurt, etc. Try to cut bad fats in your diet and replace them with good ones. Also, see my best answer to another question re: adhd.....

Have you tried straterra ( I think that's how it is spelled)

I'm also ADD, and my husband is a pharmacist. He highly recommends that because it is a non-stimulant, and doesn't have the side effects that some of the other drugs can cause.

Forget medicating yourself. Get a real doctor and a real diagnosis---it could be nutritional deficiency.
