my baby is almost 8 months. he has amazing balance and i can put him in the top part of a cart , hes sitting and he will hold on and he doesnt fall over or anything he sits there hangs on the the handle and looks around. is he too young or is this ok. i clip him in so hes not totally alone and i never leave the cart alone. i never let go of it i am always there. alot of people freak out at me at stores saying hes to young and he looks so small to sit there while alot of people say he looks 10 months. i just wanted to know what you people think. i dont think there is a problem because he sits so well, and hes doing so good

My son could sit up well at five months. We had him in the cart at about six months. People gave us looks too and one woman did ask how old he was. At around six months we switched his regular car seat for a convertible car seat still facing backward but we weren't able to hook it to the cart anymore. Ignore the looks--those people probably were the ones who let their children eat, sleep, and LIVE in their car seat until they were a year. It breaks my heart to see a child in an infant car seat when it's obvious they shouldn't be. Best of Luck!!

I think as long as they are sitting up well then it would be ok. With my kids I got one of those things that go into the top part of the cart to put them in, it's padded and will keep them from bumping their mouths or head if they happen to fall forward. Watch his little fingers too, they can get caught in the smaller parts of the cart.....my son has done that before.

As long as your baby can sit by himself without falling over, then he will be fine sitting in the shopping cart. My daughter was 7 months when I started to put her in a shopping cart. Just be sure to always buckle him in!

As long as baby is sitting up, it should be fine. I have something called a Floppy seat. It is designed for the shopping cart and it is AWESOME. It folds into itself for storage. It is slightly padded, so if he should get tired or slump, he will not hit his head. It is also good so they do not chew on the cart. Carts are nasty! New, the Floppy seat is $40, but I found mine nearly new on Craigslist for $10.

My son is 6 months old and he sits up by himself and we bought one of those covers for the baskets and he sits up in it just fine.

As long as he can sit up by himself without tipping over and you're watching him, tell the strangers to keep their opinion to themselves.

As long as he can sit up on his own and isn't in danger of falling over, and if you have him strapped in, you should be fine.

Tell those people who give you grief to mind their own business.
