Personally, though not very popular at all, was a Georgian film called Repetance which is about a fictional ruler modeled on Stalin and Hitler. It was the first film that Gorbachev released during glasnost and perestroika era and it caused a real stir inside the then-USSR. I studied this in class in college...great acting and dialogue.
