on the floors of hair Salons?
Imagine how many people with cancer who have lost their hair could benefit from the retrieval of that hair.
What would you think about starting a National Drive,or supporting one, to help in the recovery of this presious resourse for the manufacturing of more wigs?
Of course there would have to be the support of Sponsers in order to be able to pay for the costs of such an event ie. Making the wigs free of charge to the recipients etc.
Any Ideas? Do you think that it could work?

Yes to those who answered that it is already being done. However, I have seen a lot ofwomen getting their hair cut and the assistant sweeping it up and into the garbage. Maybe we could do more?

The following are the sites that do this work;
http://www.locksoflove.org/
http://www.wigsforkids.org/
I just think that we could do more to help to give incentives for people to donate or gather the unwanted hair.

I think about that all the time. However, I think you have to sign a permission slip to donate your hair, just like a body organ. This is an interesting question, because if they could petition the salon's, maybe people would agree to let them sweep it up, and donate it.

Wow, I think this is giving me thought to do something good for our cancer patients. My Grandson sadly died of brain cancer at age 9.

Your question is fantastic my dear. I can hardly sit still thinking about it. You've given me something to volunteer for. I should of a long time ago. ~~~~

Hair has to be at least 8 inches long to make a wig because so much of it winds up being woven into the "scalp."

There are organizations set up to take long hair that is cut and a lot of hair salons keep the hair anyway to send to these places.

Thats why they made locks for love, unfortunetly you need a minumum of 10 inches to donate.

Hmmm good point, never thought about that. I think that's a good idea to make a national drive.
