I would not ban McDonalds but I would prosecute parents for child abuse when they have obese offspring. It is the parents responsibility.

I'm sure Great Britain's got its share of overweight kids, but that probably because they're getting to be as lazy as we are. I know people-- kids, in particular-- who eat at McDonald's almost every day during their high school lunch break who don't ever seem to gain an ounce of fat so, as far as I'm concerned, that's not really very logical.
But, that's not to say that perhaps McDonald's has its share of blame in making people fat. The food additives are what make us fat, and that's why I stopped eating there (except during their Monopoly game. I eat the french fries and try to collect any sort of Monopoly... I think maybe it's not possible.) But, that's Great Britain's choice; if that's what the Royal Family wants, I'm sure it'll happen one way or another....
But, Prince Charles shouldn't place all the blame on just McDonald's. I'm sure there are other reasons why their kids are fat, too.

NO... People are far to quick to condemn and point the finger at a 'so called' problem without taking into account the results of their blindness.
McDonald's is a treat for my children and the same for me. I occasionally have a sweet chili chicken on brown when I fancy assimilating a snack. Just because some greedy guts decide to eat 10 burgers a day then blame McDonald's for their problem does not equate to the place being shut down.
McDonald's have a vast employment opportunity for people who might otherwise live on benefits. Can you imagine how many young people would be out of work. Besides which, most of their product is now gearing towards more healthy choices.
If Greedy Guts cant stuff themselves with McDonald's they will only stuff themselves with something else. Then should we shut every other food outlet down too...NO.. Prince Charles should stick to what he is best at. Talking gibberish to plants and dating trolls. He has no grasp on reality the golden spoon fed idiot...
As long as kids actively excercise and do not vegitate in front of the TV or games console/computer and only go to McDonalds once a week and don't pig out they will not get fat... laziness and gourging makes you fat, not an occasional treat.

I didn't hear what he said but just going by answers, he had no right to say such a thing. McDonalds are not to blame for obesity. I know plenty of towns where there is no Mcs and plenty of fat people. Greediness is the cause of obesity, no more no less. I am not obese but I always have to watch what I eat and guard against the lovely feeling of eating something nice. Its possible to eat even when you are not hungry and that's not McDonald's fault. Teach control and people could LIVE in McDonalds and not get fat.

If we do we should also ban every other fast food chain, fish and chips, pizza, crisps, chocolate, cola etc. Lets face it the world will eventually become like the movie Demolition Man. Everything which isn't good for you is bad and therefore deemed illegal. I'm not sure I want to live to see the day that we can no longer enjoy ourselves because we are being forced to live long unhappy lives. People sure know how to take the fun out of things. We should ban playgrounds too as lots of kids have accidents there.

Thats taking away people's freedom of choice.
Its about being sensible and having everything in moderation. If you had a McDonalds once a month or so, the rest of your diet was OK and you get plenty of exercise then it probably wouldn't do you any harm unless you had some other serious medical problem in which case you would have to follow a controlled diet anyway.
Banning things like chocolate and crisps isn't going to stop kids being overweight. Theres a difference between having the odd bag of crisps or bar of choccy and eating loads and loads of fattening food every day combined with no exercise. As parents we have to moderate this for our kids and make sure their diets are balanced, until they are old enough to make the decisions for themselves.
Its a bit like saying should we ban alcohol to stop people becoming alcoholics. Plenty of people manage to enjoy alcohol in moderation without having a problem with it.

I'm sure that McDonald's holds some of the blame for child obesity, but the fact of the matter is that if someone wants to eat unhealthy food, they will. Nobody is going to say "Oh lets go to McDonald's and get a cheeseburger. Oh it's closed! Lets go home and eat salad!" They'll just go to some other restaurant and end up eating a burger.

No. Children are not in charge of what they eat. Their parents are.
If a child gets to eat what it wants obviously there isn't a child alive that will pick fruit & vegetables instead of chocolate, chips & sweet things.
My son liked all those things too but he had to learn that they are given as a treat occassionally & not fed instead of decent meals.
Prince charles has probably never been within 2 miles of a McDonalds & besides, no-one pays any attention to anything he has to say anyway.

I can see the logic of it, however prohibition has never solved a problem it only makes it worse. There will always be an underground market. The problem is the media. Children grow up thinkng that they have to eat these things. There are so many choices these days and none of them are really healthy. It is not just a case of McDonalds either. Most families live off of frozen dinners and cans of food which are all packed with msg and other un healthy garbage.
It is not entirely the fault of parents either. In today's time of double income, most parents are so exhausted by the time dinner rolls around it is easier to just buy the quick, easy and not so good for you food.
We as parents have to discipline ourselves and our children to use extreme moderation when choosing foods.
The crock pot has been the savior in my family. I put it on in the morning and when dinner rolls around it is healthy fast food!
There are better solutions, we just have to find them.

A KFC has rats the size of your foot running around a "restaurant", and you're wondering why someone is calling for a ban on fast "food"? Even if it is Chucky with the Dumbo ears?
> "She is poisoning the world with her hamburgers,
> and we can't even get a lousy beer."
- Goose Gossage, after Padres owner Joan Kroc, also in
control of McDonalds, banned beer from the Padres clubhouse.
Gossage was suspended by the Padres' cowardly manager until
Gossage apologized.
